Graduate Student (Ph.D.) hopeful?

Information you’ll need before you apply to the program:

We are recruiting PhD students for the fall of 2025 with an interest in Human Cellular Immunology and/or Mouse Molecular Genetics.

Undergraduate or Graduate Research Intern (M.S.) Candidate?

We ask all incoming interns to commit a minimum of 2 consecutive semesters. It is not possible to join the lab for credit with no previous experience. We ask for a “probation” semester while we train you and determine what project you would like to contribute to in the lab.

We request all research interns commit a minimum of 15 hours/week. No independent weekend or evening hours are allowed for new interns.  However, you may be asked to help on some weekends and as you become more independent, you will can work on weekends alone.

The time commitment must be minimally 3-4– hour blocks of time Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm during training (minimum 2 consecutive semesters). To reiterate, as a new intern, you will not work independently over the weekend or evenings, the Burton Lab personnel you work with may need you to come in during evenings and weekends.

We expect highly self motivated team players to join our group.

For all interested parties please e-mail us at burtonlabteam@gmail.com with:

  • A Curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
  • A calendar breakdown of your availability: Specific days and times of the week committed to the lab.
  • A narrative of what specifically makes you interested in our lab (please be explicit and provide examples) along with what projects you are most interested in (see below)).
  • Please honestly and candidly, tell us how working in our lab will benefit you and how will you bring benefit to the lab’s projects.
We are recruiting UG and MS interns for fall 2024 to help in projects in Bioinformatics, Human Cellular Immunology, and Mouse Molecular Genetics.

Short-term/Summer Research/High School Intern Candidate?

The lab supports the development of junior scientists from all walks and experiences of life. We accept students in good academic standing from all institutes with interests in neuroimmunology, behavior, and career development.

We participate in many summer access research programs that allows for students to spend time in the lab. Programs like the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP), Ronald E. McNair, MARC/RISE programs and many more.

Unfortunately, we do not have any additional spots for high school interns for Summer 2024.

We ask that if you come into our space, that you come fully prepared to engage and put in the energy you put into your “ultimate goal”, rather is be practicing medicine, conducting research, or anything else. We are here for high quality work.

Thank you for your interest, hope to hear from you soon!
