  1. Ning successfully passed his Ph.D. dissertation defense with the title “Using Nanofillers to Enhance the Mechanical Properties of Fiber Reinforced Composites”. Congrats and best wishes to him!
  2. Pooyan presented his research on particulate composites at high strain rates at SEM conference, Orlando, FL.
  3. Congrats to our high school researchers (Jolin and Emily) for earning the first prize at the CAST STEM Bridge final symposium for their research on the measuring properties of polymer aerogels.
  4. Fateme, the McDermott Graduate Fellow, made an oral presentation “Acoustic Properties of Highly Stretchable Nanoporous Poly(isocyanurate–urethane) Aerogels” at the Gordon Research Conference in Andover, NH on Aug 8th, 2023.

Spring 2023

  1. Runyu successfully passed his Ph.D. dissertation defense with the title “Data-driven Predictive Models for Manufacturing Glass Fiber Composites and 3D-printed Metals Using Neural Networks and X-ray Imaging”. Congrats and best wishes to him!
  2. Chris graduated with MS degree, with the thesis entitled “Autonomous Estimation of Foot Bone Structure Based on Scanned Foot Surface Topography”. Congratulations, and best wishes to him!

Fall 2019

  1. We are excited to announce that our lab is now equipped with a new in-situ micro CT mechanical frame. With this facility, we can observe the microstructures of a variety of materials in a nondestructive way during a mechanical test.
  2. Dr. Lu and Sadeq presented their talks in IMECE 2019 at Salt Lake City, UT.
  3. We are pleased to welcome our new visiting scholar, Dr. Wang, from Nanjing Normal University.
