Congratulations to Anjali Augustine for being selected by the Undergraduate Research Scholar Award (URSA) program for inclusion in the URSA 2025 poster contest! Anjali’s research proposal stood out in an incredibly competitive applicant pool, earning $500 in project funding. Way to go, Anjali!

October 2024

McKenzie has been awarded the prestigious ASHFoundation Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language Development to support her dissertation! This highly competitive, peer-reviewed grant is awarded to only 1-4 students each year, making this an incredible achievement.


LILAC Lab Undergraduate, Molly Wallace, has been accepted to the Speech Language and Pathology fast track program. Congrats, Molly!

LILAC Lab undergraduate student, Elizabeth Martinez, has received the Summer Platform for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) Office of Research Award. Awards are given based on judging of poster presentations. Posters are judged by 2-4 experts who may include faculty, graduate students, and staff members. Congrats, Elizabeth!

Summer 2024

LILAC Lab PhD student, McKenzie Cullinan, has been awarded the James C. Bartlett, PhD Fellowship. The James C. Bartlett Fellowship supports doctoral students in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. This fellowship was established in honor of Dr. James C. Bartlett. Among equally qualified applicants, preference is given to applicants studying autism spectrum disorders or related research topics. Congrats, McKenzie!

Congratulations to Dr. Su, who was recently awarded a three-year NIH NIDCD R21 project! This funding will support a project aimed at examining word learning from infant-directed speech in autistic toddlers.


LILAC Lab participated in CCF’s Family Celebration “My Baby is a Scholar” event this weekend!

Dr. Su’s new article on the early vocalizations in autistic infants, in collaboration with Dr. HyunJoo Yoo (University of Alabama), Dr. D. Kimbrough Oller (University of Memphis), and Dr. Gordon Ramsay (Marcus Autism Center), is out in Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders! Read it here

Dr. Su gave a talk on how parentese supports early language learning in autistic children and in bilingual children to kick off The Center for Children and Families‘s 16th annual Spring Lecture Series. Check it out here!
