Our goal is to develop a state-the-art research program that develops novel micro and nano biomaterials for in vivo imaging and image-guided therapeutic treatments. Specifically, we are interested in developing clinically viable methods of simultaneously monitoring and controlling tumor perfusion and vascular permeability in vivo, as well as deliver drugs on-demand using sound waves, for image-guided therapeutic drug delivery to tumor tissue. We are accomplishing this through the development of micro- and nanoscale ultrasound contrast agents (UCA’s), which are designed for in vivo imaging and ultrasound-guided systemic drug delivery.
