The COINS LAB is always looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team! Students with strong interests in Computational Psychometrics and Bayesian Networks in Educational Assessment are especially encouraged to apply for lab positions. Such lab positions typically require at least some advanced training or experience in at least one of the following areas: software development, educational assessment, educational technology, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or mathematical statistics.
How to Apply to COINS Lab
We have many applicants interested in working in COINS lab but unfortunately only a limited number of slots. Approximately around the 12th week of each semester (this semester it is Monday April 14th) we will begin scheduling interviews for the subsequent semester. If you are interested in joining COINS lab please submit a cover letter outlining what types of research experiences you are interested in pursuing and your relevant coursework experience, relevant research experience, and relevant work experience and how they relate to one or more of the current Summer 2025 COINS Lab Projects (see below). Also include a resume. Email both the coverletter and resume to: golden@utdallas.edu preferably before Monday April 14th. In addition, please go to the website: https://bbs.utdallas.edu/research/opportunities/ and click on “Apply to Research Labs” as we will be reviewing applications from that website as well. The application submission deadline date for Summer 2026 Research Assistants is: Wednesday April 30, 2025. After we receive your application, we will decide whether or not to interview you. Interviews will take place the week of April 14th-April 18th and the week of April 21-25. You will be notified regarding whether you are accepted into the lab by May 5, 2025.
Summer 2025 COINS Lab Projects
This summer COINS lab research activities will begin May 21st and continue through August 15th. It is possible additional “slots” for the following projects will “open up”. We will have a better idea of our needs by April 14th.
