Areas of Research

Connectivity and artificial intelligence are the main pillars of our ongoing research. Researchers at REVT have been working on conceptualization and development of new methods for improvement of reliability and stability of interconnected power electronic-based systems. Some of the ongoing topics of research include:

  • Reliability of interconnected multi-port power electronic interfaces.
  • Stochastic modeling of power converters and probabilistic assessment of stability.
  • Nonlinear phenomena in interconnected power electronic converters.
  • Applications of digital twins and Hidden Markov Models in multi-converter systems.

In addition, our researchers continue to work in the area of adjustable speed motor drives. Some examples of their ongoing investigations include:

  • Sustainability and assessment of electric propulsion systems.
  • Integrated motor drives and enhancement of their fault tolerance.
  • Advanced thermal management system for easy to recycle electric motors.
  • Rare-earth free electric propulsion systems.
  • High frequency phenomena in adjustable speed motor drives.
  • Dynamic wireless transfer of power.
  • Management and monitoring of fast chargers.
