Shuang Qi

Shuang Qi is currently a third-year PhD student in speech, language, and hearing sciences at UT Dallas. Before entering UT Dallas, Shuang obtained both a bachelor (2016) and a master’s (2019) degree related to Audiology at Capital Medical University, China. After graduation, she worked as an Audiologist for one year. Her research interests are related to individual hearing and speech behaviors and ways of improving speech recognition for adult listeners with normal or impaired hearing, such as signal processing tools applied in hearing aids and remote microphone systems. In the spare time, Shuang enjoys reading books, playing badminton, and traveling around with friends.

Kortney Bush

Kortney Bush is a fourth-year doctor of audiology student at The University of Texas at Dallas. Kortney is completing her externship at Kaiser Permanente in California. She has a background in psychology and communication sciences and disorders. Her clinical interests include working with pediatrics and adults for diagnostics, electrophysiology, cochlear implantation, amplification, and vestibular assessment. Her research interests include compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and assistive listening devices.

Rebekah Peters

Rebekah Peters is a fourth-year doctor of audiology student at The University of Texas at Dallas. She has worked with Dr. Linda Thibodeau in her hearing health lab since her first semester of graduate school and has presented several posters at both state and national conferences. Rebekah’s primary research interests include aural rehabilitation and assistive technology. She recently served as the Programming Co-Chair for the National Student Academy of Audiology and serves as the UTD student liaison for the Texas Academy of Audiology. She is currently completing her audiology externship at the Callier Center for Communication Disorders. Rebekah obtained her bachelor of science in speech, language, and hearing sciences from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Chi Tran

Chi Tran is a fourth-year doctor of audiology student at The University of Texas at Dallas where she also earned her bachelor of science in speech-language pathology and audiology. Chi is completing her externship at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. She loves all aspects of pediatric diagnostics and treatment, especially cochlear and bone conduction implants. Her research interests include remote microphone technology and auditory and language outcomes in children with hearing loss. Chi is also a meta-volunteer on the Member Relations committee as part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion taskforce for the Student Academy of Audiology for 2022-2023.

Kristin Kronenberger

Kristin Kronenberger is currently a third-year doctor of audiology student at UT Dallas. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication sciences and disorders at Baylor University (Sic ’em, Bears!) with an emphasis in medical humanities. Her interests include assessing subjective and objective music perception in children with hearing loss, particularly cochlear implants. Kristin also volunteers on the public outreach committee for the Student Academy of Audiology for 2021-2022. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, reading, and exploring parks around Dallas!

Emma Freeman

Emma Freeman is a third-year doctor of audiology student at The University of Texas at Dallas. She also earned her bachelor of science in speech-language pathology and audiology at UT Dallas. She is interested in aural (re)habilitation, vestibular testing, and remote microphone technology as well as engaging in new topics surrounding the field of Audiology. Emma also volunteers on the Program committee for the Student Academy of Audiology for 2022-2023. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with the people she loves.

Kitrie Howell

Kitrie Howell is a third-year graduate student in the doctor of audiology program at UT Dallas. She recently graduated from Stephen F. Austin with her bachelor of science for pre-audiology. She has a strong interest in pediatric cochlear implants. Kitrie also volunteers on the member relations committee for the Student Academy of Audiology 2022-2023. On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, reading, and being outdoors.

David McCullough

David is a second-year doctor of audiology student at UTD. He graduated from UTD with a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology and audiology. David’s current research interests involve hearing aid performance in noise and assistive listening devices. David hopes to work with the adult population after graduation. David enjoys gaming, trying new foods in the Dallas area, and watching movies with friends!

Megan Cantwell

Megan Cantwell is a third-year undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Dallas. She is pursuing her passion of serving the deaf and hard of hearing as a speech-language pathology and audiology major; double majoring in psychology. Megan was selected from an esteemed group of applicants to participate in the Hearing Biology and Therapeutics Lab of the National Institute for Deafness and Other Communication Disorders this summer. She gained research experience in basic, translational, and clinical studies on hair cell degeneration and hearing loss and the efficacy of therapeutic strategies to protect hearing in humans receiving ototoxic drugs. Megan is a profoundly deaf bilateral cochlear implant recipient. She looks forward to volunteering with the Hearing Health Lab and contributing to the work that is being done to improve the lives of those with a hearing loss.

Emily Gayer

Emily Gayer is a first year doctor of audiology student from Long Island, New York. Emily graduated from Syracuse University and my current interests are cochlear implants and speech perception in noise. In Emily’s free time Emily loves to read, travel and spend time with friends!
