David Tolstyka

David Tolstyka graduated from UT Dallas and received his doctor of audiology in 2021. He completed his externship at the ENT Associates of East Texas in Longview, TX. He currently works as an audiologist at the Texas ENT Specialist in Houston, TX. In his free time, he avidly enjoys rock climbing.

Stephanie Tittle

Stephanie Tittle graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2021. She completed her externship at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She currently works as an audiologist at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, MO.

Nina Kao

Tz-Ching Nina Kao, AuD, received her doctor of audiology degree from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2021. She completed her externship at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center (BSW) in Temple, Texas. She is currently an audiologist at BSW Temple and Killeen clinic. 

 She is licensed by the State of Texas to practice audiology and is certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. 

 Her clinical interests include hearing aids, cochlear implants, assistive listening technology and working with patients and families to better understand their communication skills. 

Hannah Calhoun

Hannah Calhoun graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2020. Her lifetime journey as a cochlear implant user led her to pursue a bachelor of science degree in audiology at The University of Texas at Austin. Hannah served as the Advocacy Chair for the Student Academy of Audiology (UTD Chapter) and the secretary co-chair for the National Hearing Loss Association of America’s Fort Worth chapter. Hannah completed her fourth year externship at USCF Medical Center in San Francisco, California.

Amanda Frost

Amanda Frost graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2020. She received her bachelor of science degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2016. During her time at UT Dallas, she was involved in local and state affiliations, serving as the president of the UTD Student Academy of Audiology, and as a member of the audiology advisory and student task force committees for the Texas Speech and Hearing Association. Amanda completed her fourth-year externship at NYU Langone in New York, New York.

Logan Honea

Logan Honea graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2020. She received her bachelor of arts degree in communication sciences and disorders from the College of Wooster in 2016. Completing her undergraduate thesis, “To All Who Come To This Happy Place: An Exploration of the Hearing Assistive Technology and Accommodations at U.S. Theme Parks,” inspired an interest in hearing assistive technology. Her interests include pediatric and educational audiology.

AKHILANDESHWARI SIVASWAMI

Akhila Sivaswami graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2020. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing science from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru, India and upon graduation received two gold medals for her academic and clinical excellence in audiology. During her time at UT Dallas, was a member of the Student Academy of Audiology (UTD Chapter) and served as the 2017-2018 Humanitarian Chair.

Virginia Land

Virginia E. Land graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2019. She attended The University of Texas at Dallas for her undergraduate education in neuroscience with a minor in speech-language pathology and audiology. During her time as an undergraduate, Virginia worked for Michael Kilgard, PhD and Robert Rennaker, PhD in their joint research lab, studying the effects of vagal nerve stimulation in the motor cortex for stroke rehabilitation.

Alexander Morris

Alexander Morris graduated from UT Dallas and received his doctor of audiology in 2019. Prior to UT Dallas he obtained his bachelor of arts degree at The University of Alabama, studying music performance and biological sciences. Alexander was active in advocacy for the profession through the National Student Academy of Audiology. He served on the Public Outreach Committee and as Student Academy of Audiology Ambassador of Texas.

Tyler Caldwell

Tyler Caldwell graduated from UT Dallas and received his doctor of audiology in 2018. He attended Washington University in St. Louis where he earned his bachelor of science in systems science and engineering in applied science with minors in speech & hearing sciences and electrical engineering.

Tyler was involved with the Hearing Health Lab since his first semester at UT Dallas and has contributed to the Smartphone-Based Open Research Platform for Hearing Improvement study, a collaborative study between the UTD Audiology and Electrical Engineering departments. A poster on this project was presented at the American Academy of Audiology AudiologyNOW! Conference in April 2016 and earned the James and Susan Jerger Award for Excellence in Student Research.

Beyond the Hearing Health Lab, Tyler completed a summer research position at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in 2016 where he assessed the utility of otoacoustic emissions for monitoring intracranial pressure during spaceflight.

Audrey Taylor

Audrey Taylor graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2019. She graduated from Baylor University in 2015 with her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences & disorders. Growing up with hearing loss and in a family with hearing loss has greatly influenced her interest in the profession of audiology, specifically the areas of pediatrics, cochlear implants, aural rehabilitation, assistive technology, and educating others about living with hearing loss.

She presented a research poster titled “Benefits of Assistive Listening Devices for Scoring Word Recognition,” at the American Academy of Audiology 2017 Conference in Indianapolis and at the Association of Medical Professionals with Hearing Loss (AMPHL) Conference in June of 2017 in Rochester, New York.

Audrey worked on the Smartphone Application Research Project to investigate the utility of signal processing algorithms implements on smartphones for improving speech intelligibility in noise. Additionally, she served as a volunteer with the National Student Academy of Audiology’s Chapter and Member Relations Committee.

Stephanie Winfield

Stephanie Winfield graduated from UT Dallas and received her doctor of audiology in 2018. She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in May of 2014 with her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences & disorders and a minor in honors interdisciplinary studies.

Stephanie worked with Dr. Thibodeau under an Instructional Improvement Grant from UTD called Training Enhancement of Auditory Communication via Hearing (TEACH) that worked to provide hands-on education to undergraduate and graduate students pursing degrees in fields associated with communication sciences and healthcare. The TEACH grant was implemented through a program called the Hearing Health Gym (HHG), a program that brings Aural (Re)habilitation into local nursing homes and assisted/independent living centers.

Allison Woodford

Allison is a doctor of audiology and communication sciences PhD student at UT Dallas. She earned a bachelor of science in speech and hearing science from the University of Utah. She has participated in the Hearing Health Lab’s research looking at the impact of auditory rhythm training on speech and language development in children. Allison is happiest in the mountains, on a run, or playing with her family.
