Smartphone Grant

Smartphone Group

The Hearing Health Lab and the Statistical Signal Processing Research Lab (SSPRL) have been awarded a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to devise solutions for speech signal processing in complex environments via smartphone. The study aims to develop adaptive signal processing algorithms to improve the quality and intelligibility of speech signals while individualizing the application of hearing aid devices. Using a smartphone and other wireless technology, the group hopes to create an interactive, easily accessible auditory training program for the hearing aid user in various noisy environments.

Teach Project

Teach project team

The Training Enhancement of Auditory Communication via Hearing (TEACH) Project aims to improve the hearing health of residents of local retirement center communities. Audiological doctoral students developed the following video resources. These videos will be shared with retirement center residents on iPads by students in a UT Dallas undergraduate audiology course.
