The Electric Powertrains Laboratory researches the design, control, and diagnostics of magnetic gears, electric machines, and drives. Innovations in materials, manufacturing techniques, and computing are applied to drive the field forward to meet the unprecedented demands of applications from wind turbines to electric aircraft.

Matthew Gardner Matthew Gardner joined UT Dallas in 2020. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University in 2019 and his BS in electrical and computer engineering from Baylor University in 2014.
