Weicheng was born and raised in China. He received his B.S. degree in biochemistry from the University of Kansas in 2016. His undergraduate research focused on using X-ray crystallography to solve the structure of herpes viral portal protein Ul6. Currently, he is a graduate student in the Molecular and Cell Biology program. He joined the Dodani lab in Spring 2018 and is engineering fluorescent protein sensors for anions and is using ‘omics’ approaches to study the roles of anions in living systems. Outside of school, he enjoys reading Manga, and swimming.
