Welcome to The Torabifard Lab

The primary goal of our research program is to apply computational and theoretical methods to study complicated and unsolved biological problems. Currently we pursue two projects:

  • Investigation of biological function and structure of Fluoride ion exporter proteins to uncover more details about their unique and unusual properties and function. These studies will shed light on how microbes evolved resistance mechanism to Fluoride ion toxicity and will aid in identifying their vulnerabilities that could pave the way for therapeutic drug discovery for harmful bacterial diseases.

  • Design new bio-based ionic liquids to improve the green character of ionic liquids and to overcome the drawbacks of currently employed ionic liquids such as toxicity and low biodegradability. This study not only provides a valuable contribution to continued research in this field, but also makes a major impact on industry in the next few years.
