Welcome to The Torabifard Lab
The primary goal of our research program is to apply computational and theoretical methods to study complicated and unsolved biological problems. Currently, we pursue two projects:
1. Investigation of biological function and structure of membrane transport proteins to uncover more details about their unique and unusual properties and mechanisms. We study various systems including, but not limited to membrane proteins, nucleosomes, and enzymes.
2. Design of new bio-based ionic liquids to improve the green character of ionic liquids and to overcome the drawbacks of currently employed ionic liquids such as toxicity and low biodegradability. This study not only provides a valuable contribution to continued research in this field, but also makes a major impact on industry in the next few years.
