Welcome to the Shukla Lab at UT Dallas! We are a multidisciplinary team in the Department of Biological Sciences exploring the dynamic and multifaceted world of biological membranes. Our research bridges membrane biophysics and biochemistry to uncover how lipid-protein interactions, membrane remodeling, and organelle integrity contribute to health and disease. By combining advanced in vitro reconstitution systems, quantitative fluorescence imaging, and cell biology, we investigate how disruptions in membrane homeostasis drive the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and age-related decline. Our long-term goal is to reveal membrane-centered molecular mechanisms that open new avenues for therapeutic intervention across these critical biomedical challenges.
