Research Methods

Human brain growing from a flower, watering can is pouring water on the mind

To address our research questions, we use and combine a variety of methods, such as:

  • Development of novel behavioral and fMRI experiments
  • Computational modeling and model-based fMRI analysis
  • Ecological momentary assessment & self-reported measures
  • Hormone data collection
  • Longitudinal data analysis with structural equation modeling
  • Multimodal neuroimaging analysis
    • Task-based fMRI analysis with univariate and multivariate pattern analysis
    • Resting-state fMRI analysis and graph theory analysis
    • Structural MRI analysis

Broadly, we take two approaches:

  • Designing behavioral and fMRI experiments and collecting new data
  • Conducting secondary data analysis using open datasets such as Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) dataset
