What is Cybermapping?

Cybermapping is an integration of laser mapping, digital photography, photogrammetry and satellite positioning. The conept was defined at UTD in the late 1990’s by Xueming Xu and Carlos Aiken and patented by them in 2003.

The goal was to capture and build 3D photorealistic models by texture mapping digital photography onto 3D models of geology and manmade features like buildings. In the last few years Mohammed Alfarhan and Lionel White developed another version of Cybermapping with a more efficient workflow.
