2024 Fall – Tissue and Biomedical Optics
This course provides foundational knowledge on the interaction between light and biological tissues, as well as optical imaging techniques for biological systems. We will explore material from various areas of physics, with a focus on theories of optical properties based on idealized models, solutions to a range of scattering problems, and physical models for naturally turbid biological tissues. The course will further discuss the fundamentals of photon transport and optical imaging in biological tissues and state-of-art imaging systems to interrogate biological systems.
