Dr. Colleen Le Prell is one of the leading researchers in the area of hearing loss prevention. Her work has emphasized the identification of cell death pathways activated by noise, and assessment of therapeutic agents that prevent cell death and hearing loss. Dr. Le Prell has served as the president of the National Hearing Conservation Association and serves on task forces and working groups for multiple professional organizations. She served as the lead editor on two Springer Handbook of Auditory Research editions (2012: Noise-Induced Hearing Loss: Scientific Advances; 2016: Translational Research in Audiology, Neurotology, and the Hearing Sciences), and was co-editor on the 2015 Oxidative Stress in Applied Basic Research and Clinical Practice: Free Radicals in ENT Pathology. Dr. Le Prell received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota at Morris and her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan.
