Speech Sensorimotor Control Lab

Welcome to the Speech Sensorimotor Control Lab at The University of Texas at Dallas! Our research is dedicated to understanding speech production and speech disorders, with the goal of enhancing communication for those who face communication challenges. We explore how the brain and body work together to control speech, focusing on conditions like Parkinson’s disease, stuttering, and laryngeal dystonia. By studying how sensory inputs affect speech motor control, we hope to develop innovative diagnostic tools and therapies. Join us as we strive to make a difference in the lives of individuals with communication difficulties!

Dr. Frankford is currently accepting PhD students for Fall 2026.
