Welcome to the Laboratory of Quantitative Cell Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas!

We are interested in the fundamental principles that underlie the elaborate subcellular organization of a cell. To address this, we combine quantitative fluorescence microscopy, genetics, biochemistry, and kinetic modeling, and use diverse model systems, including Drosophila, mammalian tissue culture cells, and in vitro recombinant systems. Our current focus is to identify new regulatory layers of nuclear-cytoplasmic transport and delineate the mechanisms by which they control key cellular processes, such as the cell cycle, cell signaling, and the DNA damage response in both normal and disease contexts.
