Research Interests

Biomedical magnetic resonance techniques, applications of 13C & 1H NMR to study intermediary metabolism, hyperpolarized 13C probes for metabolic imaging and lanthanide-based MRI contrast agents, biologically responsive imaging agents and lanthanide-macrocyclic complexes.

Organic and bio-inorganic chemistry of metal ions complexes relevant to medical applications including:

  • The design and synthesis of bifunctional chelating agents for diagnostics and therapy;
  • development of tissue-specific chelates for magnetic resonance imaging;
  • structural relationships between metal-based pharmaceutical agents and receptor targets.

Harrison is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and a minor in neuroscience since 2018 at the University of Texas at Dallas. Currently, he is involved in synthesizing MRI contrast agents for mapping tissue pH non-invasively.
