Adib Ahsan, UG researcher, 2022 Clark fellow
Adib is an undergraduate in neuroscience, with hopes of pursuing a career in medicine at a top-tier school! His dream is to open a clinic alongside his sister, who is currently pursuing a degree in nursing. When free, he likes to play sports, socialize, and seek knowledge. Fun fact: despite being of Bangladeshi heritage, he is allergic to fish!!! (a staple food in Bangladesh)

Hanwei manages our lab. She has more than 10 years of experience in molecular biology and mouse work from Vanderbilt. If you have trouble with any experiment, she is the go-to person.

Ezzeldin Elhawary, MCB PhD student
Ezz has a BSc in Biotech and an MSc in Genomic Medicine from the UK. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology. In his free time, he likes to play classical guitar and Oud. A diehard Formula 1 fan. He speaks Arabic, English, and French and he’s currently learning Mandarin but don’t test him. Also, a coffeeholic!
Natalia Vanesa Hernandez, UG student
Natalia is an undergraduate in neuroscience and pursuing a career in research. After graduation, she hopes to attend a PhD program. Besides science, she enjoys writing poems, listening to music, and brewing espresso.
Tanvi Khandekar, UG student
Tanvi is an undergraduate studying molecular biology with an interest in neuroscience. She intends to continue research postgraduate and earn a Ph.D. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching tv shows, crafting, and baking. Fun Fact: She knows more than five languages!
Hamza Lalami, MCB PhD student
Hamza completed an M.S. in Molecular & Cell Biology from UT Dallas. As a PhD student, he studies the neurological significance of AQP4X. Other than science, he tries new things such as painting, video games, new languages, or reading/watching a quasi-niche story. Fun fact: Avoid speaking about One Piece to him. The last person who brought up this animated story to him is still listening to him ramble.
Jacqueline Luong, UG researcher
Jacqueline is studying biology with an interest in neuroscience. As an enthusiastic pre-health student, she aspires to attend medical school and become a pediatrician. She currently works as a scribe at Methodist Emergency Department and teaches CPR and First Aid classes on the side. Other than science, she enjoys skateboarding, watching bad movies, and playing with cats.
Victor Vinh Nguyen, UG student
Victor is an undergraduate studying molecular biology. He is currently interested in pursuing a career in research. In his free time, he enjoys playing the violin, watching Netflix, and making origami.
Darshan Sapkota
Darshan did a PhD in developmental neuroscience with Xiuqian Mu at SUNY, Buffalo. Then as a postdoc with Joe Dougherty at Washington University in St. Louis, he studied the regulation of mRNA translation in the brain. In 2021, his lab opened its door at UT Dallas. Besides neuroscience, Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and George Harrison give him goosebumps.
