Rules:
- The workshop is a shared space where UTD students are welcome.
- Do not use any equipment in the workshop while alone. A partner is required when any equipment is used.
- You must take your belongings with you when you leave the room because others will be using the workshop after you leave. Please do not leave anything that belongs to you or your project in the workshop.
- Food and drinks are not allowed in the project workshop. However, water in a closed container is allowed.
To use the workshop:
Completing online classes at the UTD BioRaft website is required before the Workshop can be used. Use the BioRaft link and add the following four (4) required classes:
1 – General Safety Orientation Course
2 – Shop Safety (Hand and Power Tool Safety)
3 – PPE Course
4 – Fire Extinguisher Course
OPTIONAL – Machine Shop Orientation: Part 1 (Self Study)
To get COMET Card access:
Send an email using your UTD email account to fadda@utdallas.edu requesting access.
- You must send the email to Dr. Fadda to have access to the workshop. Below is a suggested format for your email.
- You do not need to attach the certificates because we can see them now in BioRaft.
- It can take a week before your Comet Card starts opening the door.
- The COMET Card opens the door only when your BioRaft training (see above) is current and will stop working if the BioRaft training expires.
- You will lose access if you do not follow the workshop rules.
- COMET Card access is provided from 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays only. Access is not provided during weekends or holidays.
