Dr. Ofen presents a talk at SMU

On March 7th, Dr. Noa Ofen delivered a talk at Southern Methodist University (SMU) on the subject of neural correlates supporting memory development. She discussed findings from non-invasive neuroimaging studies using MRI, which revealed how brain structure and function contribute to memory development. Her talk was well received by attendees, emphasizing the growing importance of neuroscience in understanding cognitive development and learning.

DACC Conference

The Ofen Lab was excited to participate in the Dallas Aging & Cognition Conference on February 20-22. Dr. Qin Yin gave a talk on neural correlates of memory development, while Ph.D. student Parisa Vahidi presented her research on cognitive control and memory at the poster session. We also welcomed visitors from Wayne State University. The sold-out event presented cutting-edge research in aging and cognition, and we’re proud to contribute to this growing field.

New Members at the Ofen Lab

Starting Spring 2024, the Ofen Lab is excited to introduce new lab members to the team. The lab has recently welcomed Hemanth Allamaneni, a Master’s student under the Applied Cognition and Neuroscience program. Hemanth has joined the lab to pursue research in brain development and cognition. The lab also has new undergraduate students, including Dalya Jabr, Osman Khan, and Zain Pervaiz, who will contribute to ongoing projects and gain hands-on experiences in neuroscience.

Ofen Lab is thrilled to have such talented new members on board. Their work will help us continue our research in cognitive development and aging. Welcome everyone!

Fall 2024
Dr. Qin Yin received the Post-Doctoral Fellow Award

Our post-doctoral collaborator, Dr. Qin Yin, was accepted to present her poster abstract at the Cognitive Neuroscience Society Annual Meeting, which will be held in Boston from March 29 – April 1. Dr. Yin Received the Post-Doctoral Fellow Award for her poster abstract. Congratulations, Dr. Yin!

Dr. Ofen Travels to Columbia

Dr. Noa Ofen travelled to Bogota, Columbia as a keynote speaker at the International Neuroscience and Psychology Symposium, organized by Universidad Católica de Colombia. Dr. Ofen also presented for an event broadcast to students from across Central America.

The Ofen Lab Travels to Baylor University

In October 2024, the Ofen Lab team traveled to Baylor University in Waco for the annual Dallas and Austin Area Memory Meeting (DAAMM). Dr. Qin Yin presented about using intracranial EEG to explore medial temporal lobe signatures of memory in the developing brain. The lab had an amazing time while meeting and talking to different labs across the Dallas and Austin area!

The Ofen Lab is setting up in Dallas!

As of January 2024, the Ofen Lab is now part of the Center for Vital Longevity at UT Dallas. We are actively recruiting graduate students and postdocs for exciting research projects on memory networks in children.
