Prof. Bernal was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. After undergrad studies in Mechanical and Electronics Engineering at the University of the Andes, Bogotá, he completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University in 2014. From 2014 to 2016 he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Pennsylvania. Since 2017, he is an Assistant Professor at UT Dallas.
