The Inner Ear Research Lab at The University of Texas at Dallas is dedicated to exploring the biological, pathological, and molecular mechanisms underlying hearing loss associated with inner ear pathogenesis. Our research addresses various forms of acquired hearing loss, including those caused by noise exposure, ototoxic drugs, and aging, as well as genetic hearing loss. We utilize advanced biological and molecular tools to deepen our understanding of these conditions. Our ultimate goal is to uncover the causes of hearing loss and develop effective therapeutic strategies for its prevention and treatment.

Research Areas

  • Examining sex differences in cochlear molecular composition, disease progression, and associated molecular changes
  • Investigating cochlear immunity and inflammation in relation to inner ear pathogenesis
  • Exploring molecular pathways involved in the development of inner ear diseases
  • Developing therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of hearing loss
