Welcome to the Inner Ear Research Lab at The University of Texas at Dallas! We are a team of researchers and students curious about how and why hearing loss happens. Whether it is caused by loud noise, certain medications, aging, or inherited from family genes, we dig into the complex biology of the ear to find answers. Using powerful tools from biology and molecular science, we study how the inner ear changes over time and in different conditions. Our ultimate goal is to uncover the root causes of hearing loss and help pave the way for new treatments that can protect and restore hearing, so people can continue to enjoy the sounds that connect them to the world.

Research Interests

  • Understanding sex-based differences in cochlear biology and disease progression
  • Investigating immune and inflammatory responses in inner ear disorders
  • Uncovering molecular pathways that contribute to inner ear damage and repair
  • Developing targeted therapies to prevent and treat various forms of hearing loss
