APS Career Mentoring Fellow

Dr. Yousefi has been accepted to the APS Career Mentoring (CM) Fellows cohort for the 2024-2025 academic year. CM fellows serve as mentors to students and early-career scientists at APS conferences.

STEM Bridge Program

This summer, we hosted a group of 5 high school students from the DFW area (Justin, Kevin, Brice, Arohi, and Jacob) through the STEM Bridge Program, working on the CFD simulations of a piston-type wavemaker.

WISE Investigator Program

As a program partner with the Young Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Investigator Program, Dr. Yousefi served as the judge panelist for the final poster competition of the 2023-2024 academic year cohort.

Dallas Science & Engineering Fair

Dr. Yousefi served as the category judge for the 2024 Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair (DRSEF), an annual science fair for 6-12th grade students in Texas Education Agency Region 10.

Plano Science & Engineering Fair

Dr. Yousefi served as grand award and lead judge at the 2024 Plano ISD Science and Engineering Fair (PSEF), evaluating projects by 7-12th grade students from Plano ISD hosted by McMillan High School in Murphy, TX.

UTDesign Expo | Spring 2024

Dr. Yousefi contributed as a judge to the UTDesign Expo in Spring 2024, evaluating senior capstone projects from Mechanical Engineering and Bioengineering students at the University of Texas at Dallas.

STEM Bridge Program

The STEM Bridge Program is dedicated to fostering synergies in STEM education among local high school students by providing them with immersive, hands-on experience in university-level research during the summer. The program targets students from underrepresented groups in STEM and includes supervised research and weekly seminars with invited speakers. The FDT laboratory hosts a study group of 4-6 students each summer, offering them a unique opportunity to partake in federally funded research projects (e.g., NSF). This exposure to high-level research enhances the academic profiles of students and inspires them to pursue further studies and careers in STEM.

Young WISE Investigator Program

The Young WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Investigator Program at the University of Texas at Dallas is a year-long outreach initiative aimed at inspiring and advancing STEM education among high school students from Richardson and Dallas ISDs. Through hands-on, university-level research, students gain invaluable exposure to STEM fields. As program partners, we actively support the initiative by hosting students in our labs, organizing lab tours and research demonstrations, and serving as judge panelists during the final poster competition.
