US News: Best Universities in Iran

Eleven Iranian universities are among the top 1,000 universities of the third annual U.S. News Best Global Universities ranking list. The Sharif University of Technology, University of Tehran, and the Isfahan University of Technology are top three universities in Iran according to the recent ranking by U.S. News. The criterion includes global and regional research reputation, publications, international collaboration, citation impact, number of publications that are among the 10 percent most cited, and number of highly cited papers that are among the top 1 percent most cited in their respective field with 25, 15, 10, 17.5, 22.5, and 10 percent weights.

The overall Best Global Universities rankings encompass the top 1,000 institutions spread across 65 countries, up from the top 750 universities in 57 countries ranked last year. It is important to note that the Best Global Universities rankings focus specifically on schools’ academic research and reputation overall and not on their separate undergraduate or graduate programs. The complete list of top Iranian universities in this ranking is as follows,

Shiraz University, K. N. Toosi University of Technology, Bu-Ali Sina University, and Urmia University are other famous, leading universities in Iran, which are not in this list but worth to be considered.
