Dr. Hassanipour is a professor of mechanical engineering and Assistant Dean at University of Texas at Dallas. She received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and joined the department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas, both in 2009. Her research interests are in the areas of heat transfer and fluid mechanics, and their applications in energy and health.
She is a recipient of the NSF CAREER award in 2015 and NSF faculty Mid-CAREER award in 2021. Her research has been recognized by an ASME North Texas Section Young Engineer of the Year award, Oak Ridge Associated Universities Ralph E. Power Junior Faculty Award, Editor’s choice award from ASME journal of Biomechanical Engineering, and the Best paper award from ASME IMECE, Fluid Division.
Dr. Hassanipour is a fellow of ASME. She has received the UTD Faculty Diversity Award (2011), the Provost’s Award for Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring (2020), Dean’s Fellow for Diversity and Inclusion (2020), the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award from Jonsson School of Engineering (2021), and the President’s Teaching Excellence Award in Undergraduate Instruction for tenure-system faculty (2025).
