Evidence-based point-of-care technology development during the COVID-19 pandemic

This is a review article that features the need for evidence-based Point-of-Care technologies for stratifying various stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and a perspective on translating clinical healthcare needs to a researcher. Detailed within the publication is a comprehensive log of point-of-care strip-based devices, unit use analyzers, benchtop and hand-held analyzers employed at the various transition points of COVID and FDA approved commercial serological and molecular tests for diagnostic use. We discuss the potential for use of various bio-fluid based sensing POCTs developed in our lab in the context of future research.
