The Action, Cognition & Translational Neuroscience Lab is directed by Dr. Jerillyn Kent and is housed in the Psychology Department in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Our research investigates motor function in both clinical and nonclinical populations, with an emphasis on studying cerebellar abnormalities in individuals with psychotic disorders. We use neuroimaging (fMRI) and electrophysiological (EEG) methods to investigate the neural correlates of various motor abnormalities in individuals with psychotic disorders, with the aim of elucidating dysfunctional neural circuits and psychological processes that may be contributing to the clinical presentation (e.g., symptoms, functioning) of psychotic disorders. The ultimate goal of this work is to illuminate novel targets for intervention.

Dr. Kent will probably not be reviewing doctoral program applications for the 2022-2023 admissions cycle.

Prospective doctoral students interested in working with Dr. Kent may apply through either the PhD program in psychology or the PhD program in cognition and neuroscience (cognitive neuroscience track). Please see the “Mentorship” tab for information on Dr. Kent’s mentorship philosophy.
