Lab Director

Katherine Damme, PhD

Kate Damme

Dr. Damme completed her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt in psychology and philosophy before completing the Intramural Research Training Award at the National Institutes of Mental Health. She then completed a PhD in psychology: brain, behavior, and cognition at Northwestern University. For her post-doctoral training Dr. Damme was a part of the Innovations in Developmental Sciences training program ‘Mental Health, Earlier: Transdiagnostic, Transdisciplinary, Translational Training Program in Neurodevelopmental Mechanisms of Psychopathology’. Kate is a very positive, curious, and enthusiastic scientist. She love to collaborate and mentor, especially when that means she can “geek out” about brains, MRI, adolescent development, psychosis, and affective disorders.  In her spare time, Dr. D likes to bake, garden, travel, and hike with her dog and family.

Research Coordinator

Robert Toms, MS

Robert Toms

Robert holds an MSc in applied neuroscience from King’s College London under the supervision of Dr. Gemma Modinos. There he compared alterations in regional structure and function associated with self-distancing experiences in mindfulness practitioners vs. early-stage individuals with psychosis. He is thrilled to be starting his neuroscience career and hopes to pursue a PhD in cognitive neuroscience. His research interests revolve around the interface of self-related processing and “generative cognition” (e.g., psychotic symptoms, memory/imagination, language, predictive processing). Robert spends his free time exercising, reading, and being generally productive.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Catherine Koy

Catherine Koy

Catherine is a first-year undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Dallas majoring in psychology and minoring in neuroscience. She hopes to pursue a PhD in psychology and teach at a university someday. Catherine is very interested in psychopathology, neuropsychology, and cognitive development. Outside the lab, she enjoys reading, music, and working out!
